A Wish for the Holidays: Write a #WomenTogether letter to Stop Deportations
November 13, 2012
via Christopher Moore, The Opportunity Agenda:
The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum and the National Domestic Workers Alliance, are currently engaged in their second annual A Wish for the Holidays campaign. Their goal, between now and the end of November, is to gather letters written by 20,000 children expressing the shared wish to see deportations ended so that families and communities can stay together. In December, NAPAWF and NDWA will deliver those letters to the members of Congress who most need to hear these children’s stories.
At www.WeBelongTogether.org/wish, you’ll find age-appropriate activities to spark letter writing, background information to help adults explain these issues to children, and more instructions on how to participate. Letter writing can happen in living rooms, schools, churches, community centers — anywhere where children and adults can discuss these issues together. Please help spread the word by forwarding this message to your contacts. There have been 6,300 letters pledged so far, with just three weeks left to reach 20,000!
