Skip to content My Name is Anees And I Am Getting Deported Next Wednesday

January 14, 2010

via’s Immigrant Rights blog:

Immigration reform groups are calling for a speedy resolution to the health care impasse and asking legislators to deliver a just and humane immigration reform this year. Events are being held in cities across America with fathers hospitalized, immigrant youth walking thousands of miles for change, and citizens urging their Congressional representatives to reform our broken immigration laws and the horrible immigrant detention system.

Amidst these positive actions for change, Anees Sous is still getting deported next Wednesday, Jean Montrevil is still in detention, we still need Temporary Protected Status for Haiti, and for thousands more, comprehensive immigration solution cannot come fast enough. The following is a speech delivered by Anees Sous at an immigration event last night, which highlights the pressing need to make some immediate changes to our immigration system. (Text of his speech after the jump.)
