This week in New York City: Actions around Jean Montrevil’s release

January 25, 2010

via New Sanctuary Coalition of NYC:

Jean Speaks Out: Released but Not Free, the Laws Need Change and the Struggle Continues!
TUESDAY, 1/26, 12:30pm
outside Varick St. Detention Center – 201 Varick St; 1 train to Houston St.
At the place where Jean was first detained, the place where last week ICE agents in riot gear subdued detainees on a hunger strike for immigration reform, the place where hundreds of us have vigiled and 19 of us committed civil disobedience, and the place where ICE dropped Jean off Saturday afternoon… we will join Jean and Jani and our growing circle of allies, as we call with greater urgency and commitment, for immigration laws that KEEP OUR FAMILIES TOGETHER!
*Note that this rally replaces the originally scheduled Thursday rally.*

Children’s March Against Deportation!
SATURDAY, 1/30, 11am-12pm
26 Federal Plaza (at Broadway) – 4/5/6/R/W to City Hall
Stand in solidarity with our kids as they work to build a just and loving society.  Bring your children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends.  Would your religious education program or youth group like to participate???  Please contact Ravi Ragbir at 917-566-4816 (rrchanges@gmail.com) for details. *A flier is attached.*
