via @NILC_org: New Fact Sheet on Detention and Deportation

April 11, 2013

From the National Immigration Law Center:

NOW MORE THAN EVER we need reforms to detention and deportation policies that have resulted in the massivlogoe separation of families and communities. As members of Congress prepare to introduce immigration reform legislation, now is the time to highlight the devastating impact of detentions and deportations and to advocate for making our immigration system more just and compassionate.

Our latest immigration enforcement–related fact sheet summarizes the “Detention and Removal” chapter of the Migration Policy Institute’s report Immigration Enforcement in the United States: the Rise of a Formidable Machinery and provides NILC’s recommendations on the issues the chapter discusses.

We invite you to check out the new fact sheet, as well as a similar fact sheet about border enforcement. And stay tuned in the coming days and weeks as immigration bills are introduced in the Senate and House.
